PAYMENT METHODS

PAYPAL

Most people use paypal and a credit card to order my books.  I have now provided buttons for each book and each postal region.

Click on the Paypal links and set up a paypal account.  This does not take long and is useful anyway.  Make sure you enter your credit card number as a 16 digit block (no gaps) for Paypal.

Bryan Thomas wrote Hy Hugh.  I just ordered your plans on how to build a wind turbine, and I had to type my credit card number with no spaces or no dashes in order for the Pay Pal order to work.  I suggest that when you ask for the customers credit card number, you put, in parenthesis, (no spaces), just to avoid possible confusion, and also to avoid the possibility of missed sales.  Keep up the good work on the good fight though and thanks for the reasonable price on the plans

Checks and money orders

You can also send cheques or money orders but only in pounds.  If you send dollar or other currency checks or orders or drafts then the bank will take half of it when I try to change it to useful cash here. If I receive a check in foreign currency (not in pounds) then I cannot use it, and I will proably not respond to your order in any way.

Cash in Pounds, Euros or US$

I do not recommend you send cash by registered mail or special delivery since these often get lost.  Regular post is the most reliable and also the cheapest.  I hardly never known cash sent by regular post to go missing.  If registered delivery cash does not arrive, then I usually send the books anyway but I much prefer if you use paypal.

How to Build a Wind Turbine
(my 'axial flux alternator windmill plans')

Francais

Italian translation ask here

Windmill plans used for notes in my workshop courses.
52 pages with diagrams describe in detail how to build  2 sizes of wind turbine including the alternators and blades.
The 8 foot (2.4 m) diameter turbine has 500 watt output.
The 4 foot diameter one has 100 watt output.
There are also details of a 10 and a 12 foot design.

Units in both metric and 'English' (inches etc) throughout.

These are very specific instructions for building a turbine.

A book dedicated to building your own working windmill for electricity production. Details of generator choice and design, blade construction, furling systems, towers, wiring, battery charging, heating, alternator design, modifications for car alternators and generators, and everything else you will need to know.

This is a book about, rather than specific insttructions for building your turbine.  it works well in conjunction with my windmill plans above, providing more insight and dealing in more depth with installation and system design.

In 1993 I produced plans for building a windmill based on a permanent magnet alternator from the brakedrum of a van. This is an updated edition year 2000.  34 page detailed, step by step guide to building a 300 watt windmill with 2.1metre (7 foot) diameter. I have built one and it has
worked for years on the hill near my house, producing an average output of 100 watts (at the battery). Readers may need to adapt the method to suit
their own brakedrum.  It is a simple, robust and efficient windmill, but quite large and heavy.
I no longer have copies of this document in stock.

I do not recommend it any more - my new plans are much better

"Choosing Windpower" from CAT publications (October 2006) replaces my older booklet "It's a Breeze" from CAT
choosing windpower cover
Please ignore the diagrams on the front which do not relate to this book but were taken from my windmill plans

The book contains a list of all turbines on the market in the UK with basic data and prices.

"Choosing Windpower is the definitive guide for any ecologically-minded person who wants to generate electricity off the grid using windpower. As a variable and at present expensive option of electricity generation for a household, the book deals with a 'stand-alone system' for those in remote areas who wish to slash the environmental and monetary costs incurred by diesel generation. With sections on assessing your needs, the electrical ins and outs of wind turbines, where to site the turbines and finally how to go about setting up a turbine, the book is a valuable reference point for all those with no access to mains electricity.
Learn how to assess your power needs and find out whether wind power is right for you.

"Choosing Windpower is the brand new edition of 'It's a Breeze', brought up to date with full revisions
